Birthday Times Two

Five years ago today I received the best birthday present ever....my cute, spunky Makinley. It is so fun to share a birthday with her! Makinley turned 5. She is really growing up. Today we just hung out, me and the girls did our nails and had a little girl time while the boys slept. I had a soccer game that night so we didn't plan the usual family party, but will be having it later this weekend. We got just a little cake from the store so Kinners could blow out her candles. She had fun opening her presents. She too got a Leapster like Taelor and a game. She also got a "little pet shop" house, some chalk, bracelets, paper and stickers and some treats. We had a good day and just enjoyed being together. At the soccer game Tyler's parents came (Ty's brother is on my team as well) and they brought cupcakes for all of us, and my mom and brother came with balloons and treats for me. It was very thoughtful of them. We won our game thank goodness, or it might have just spoiled out day!! We will do some more partying this weekend. One day is never enough for us! Happy B-day Kinners. I love you!

Schools Out!

Well another school year has come to a close. Taelor just loved 1st grade. Her teacher Mrs. Bodily was just amazing! Tae really loved her. She even got teary eyed on the last day when she had to say good-bye to her friends and teacher. Poor girl, she is just like me, I always hated when school was over in elementary. Taeler did really well in school. Her favorite thing was probably recess. She does excellent in Math and Reading. She loves to learn and loves the social part of school as well. I cant believe she will be a 2nd grader next year. Makinley will be joining her in the fall. Can you believe it?! I will have two kids in school! Roosevelt Elementary is becoming a chapter 1 school in the fall so they will be offering full day kindergarten. It will be a adjustment for me as well as Makinley. It will just be me and the boys in the house all day. But I will worry about that in the fall.....for now we are off to enjoy summer!!
This is Taelor with her friend Jade. We were not able to round up her other friends, they were too excited that school was out and they took off! (smart kids :)

Look who's 7!

Happy Birthday Taelor. Tae turned 7 on Tuesday. I cant believe how big and grown up she is. She had a great day. They went on a field trip at school to the new library. Then they went to the park for lunch and to play. We took some treats over to her class as well. She got to open presents when Ty got home from work. We had family over later that night for cake and ice-cream. Taelor wanted to go out to eat for her birthday, so we told her she could pick anywhere she wanted to go. (I thought she would pick Mimi's or Red Robin or Chili's) She thought for a minute and said "Arby's"! We laughed and asked her if she was sure and she said she was. So off to Arby's we went. Funny girl.

Taelor got some great things for her birthday. 3D chalk, clothes, leapster and game, markers, crocs, nail polish and decals, lip gloss, a Hannah Montana hat, treats, money. Thanks for all the great gifts guys!
Taelor and I found a cute "groovy jeans" cake on the computer and that is what she wanted me to make her this year. It turned out pretty cute. Some day I will take some classes and really get into cake making. It is something I have been interested in for a long time.

Taelor is such a good girl. She has a very soft heart. She is a great helper to me and does so much with the other kids. She loves to play and carry Jace around. She is such a little mommy. Taelor is very artsy. She loves to draw, color, make things, paint, and stamp. Tae loves to play outside and cant wait for soccer to start again. (that's my girl!) We just love her so much! Even the attitude that comes with being in 1st grade! She is such a great girl. We love you Taelor!!

The "Whine" Flu

We have become victims of the dreaded "whine" flu. We have been sharing this throughout our house now for 3 weeks. Fever, chills, cough, runny nose, nausea, oh my! Taelor was the first to catch it. She also had the most severe case. She missed a whole week of school. Poor girl. Kinley caught it towards the end of Taelors run. She coughed more than anything. Then lucky me, I was next. Moms are not supposed to be sick. Tyler ended up having to come home early from work to help with the kids. Now if I ask for help, you know its bad. I only had it for 2 days. Ill take that over a week any day. Dennin kind of caught the tail end of it. Just a fever for a few days and a cough. Luckily Jace has been spared, Tyler as well. It was no fun. We missed out on some fun things I was going to blog as well. My Grandpa Reid turned 74 and the whole family meet at a park for dinner and to celebrate all that he and my grandma has done for our family. Taelor was the only one well so Tyler and her went. They had a great time. Hopefully we are done with this crap and can now enjoy the summer and have some fun!

Huntin' for Eggs

On Saturday we had our annual Schiffman family gathering which includes a picnic and Easter egg hunt. It was at my moms house this year. Grandma and Grandpa always buy KFC and we bring all the fixings. Our get together is getting bigger each year now that my cousins are having kids as well, which is good because now there is a whole new generation hunting for eggs, and we get to hid them this time. After the picnic the kids hunted for eggs. Each kid is assigned a number. That way everyone gets the same amount of eggs and the same treats. Smart huh, can you tell we have been doing this for a while?! It eliminates the fighting. Then we just hung out and visited for a while. It was alot of fun and the kids had a ball.

Makinley showing me her pink egg she just found. Taelors eggs were hidden the hardest (thanks to Jaxon) because she is the oldest great-grand child. She had fun finding them.

Jace was just as happy as can be outside. He enjoyed the hunt by sitting on Aunt Jodi's lap on Grandmas swing.

Uncle Jesse helped Dennin find his eggs. He was excited to help, and it let me video the kids.

Happy Birthday Mom!

At the end of March was my mothers birthday. My mother is amazing lady and I look up to her. She is a incredible grandmother and my kids just love going to "Grandma Joys" house. My mother is very independent, and that is something that I admire about her. Although sometimes it can get her into trouble....on time she didn't want to wait for my dad to get home to hook up the swamp cooler so she put my little brother down for a nap and climbed up on the roof and did it her self. Well the ladder fell and she got stuck on the roof with a baby who had just woke up inside alone. She yelled for help but no one heard her, she finally got a passing cars attention by whistling. (Another thing she is known for) They helped her get the ladder back up and down from the roof. I love my mom and don't know where I would be without her. For her birthday (which was on Sunday) I cooked her dinner so she wouldn't have too, and we had the family over for cake and ice cream. I don't have too many pictures of just us together, so we took this one. Love ya mom!!
